Noted young writer, Prof. Prakash Vazrikar has been selected as the Chairperson of the "7th Konkani Yuva Sahitya Sammelan" which is to be held on 28th & 29th January, 2006 at Rosary College, Navelim. The selection was done unanimously in a joint meeting held recently of the local organising Committee of Rosary College and Rosary Higher Secondary and the organising Committee of Goa Konkani Akademi.

Prof. Vazrikar is one of the eminent dramatist and critic of Konkani literature. He is born at Vazri, Sanquelim, Goa. He joined the Konkani movement while he was schooling.

His first drama 'Ani Ek Butto Fullo' gave him wide success. This drama of his received 1st Prize for presentation and writing and also many other prizes at the State level drama competition organised by Kala Academy, Goa.

'Ani Ek Butto Fullo', 'Gattan Konachem', 'Kanni tashi Junich', 'Sad Antar Manacho', 'Ani Ek Prashna Parva' and 'Partiche Vatter' are the 6 dramas written by Prof. Vazrikar which have won many prizes in the State Level Drama competition of Kala Academy.

He received 1st prize for script writing for 5 successive years in the drama competition. he also received prizes from Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Sankalp theatre for script writing. His drama 'Ani Ek Butto Fullo' has now appeared in book form. He is also the co-writer of the book 'Kharbhari Konkani', He is also co-editor of the books 'Rattan Abollim' & 'Katha Parikrama'.

For last many years, he is contributing to local Newspapers, All India Radio, Goa Doordarshan etc.

He has also participated in the State & National level seminars and presented Research Papers. He is the former President of Konkani Seva Kendre, Sanquelim. He has done his Post graduation in Konkani, Marathi and Philosophy. At present he is the head of the Department of Konkani of Government College, Kandola.
