Panaji : 25 Goa Government has renominated, Mr. Pundalik Naik, Konkani writer as the President of Goa Konkani Akademi. As per the Govt. notification, Mr. Naik took the charge of Presidency from today, 25th November 2005. The new term is for three years.

Goa Konkani Akademi was established by the Government of Goa in 1984 for the upliftment of Konkani Language, Literature and Culture. The then member of Parliament and Freedom fighter late Purushottam Kakodkar was appointed as the first President of Akademi. Government nominated him for three times for the period 1984 - 1996. He was on the chair of President for 12 years 9 months. The second President of Akademi Adv. Uday Bhembre was appointed as President for the two terms. He was for 6 years on the chair. The present President Mr. Pundalik Naik is the third one appointed for the second time. He has completed the term of 3 years.

The last meeting of the current General Council was held on 23rd November. The resolution was taken in the meeting of congratulating Mr. Naik for his re-appointment as President of Akademi.
