Goa Konkani Akademi to confer Konkani Sahitya/ Seva Puraskar (Awards) from 2007-2008 onwards

 Panaji - -  Goa Konkani Akademi has announced its Konkani Sahitya / Seva Puraskar (Awards scheme from this year onwards). This scheme is to be implemented from this financial year of 2007 – 2008. These awards are divided into two categories such as Konkani literary Awards and Konkani Seva Awards. The motto behind this Award scheme is to honour the creative production of Konkani writers who contribute their service to Konkani literature and to encourage their enthusiasm and also those writers who have contributed to the literature and language throughout their life. Akademi has also decided to consider those who have worked for the progress of Konkani language in different fields. A special scheme of awards is also set for the youths and for institutions working for Konkani. The details of the scheme of Akademi is as follows –

First category 1 – Outstanding Literary / Granth Award –

Five awards of Rs. 10,000/- each in five categories viz. Poetry, Short story, Play, Essays – Travelogue, Research – Science – Criticism and one of Rs. 5,000/- in the category of Children Literature. Total Six Awards in this category are announced. The Award includes Cash amount, Memento and Certificate. The book published in the period of three years from 1st January 2005 to 31st December 2007 will be considered for the Award scheme of 2007 – 08. The Awards will be for the books in Nagari and Roman script. The recipient of Sahitya Akademi Awards will not be eligible for this. The entries may be sent for more than one category but only one book will be considered at a time for the award.

2. Sahitya Pratibha Puraskar – The Award includes Cash amount of Rs. 25,000/- Certificate, Memento & Shawi. This lifetime achievement award is for those who have crossed age of 50 years and whose valuable contribution in the field of Konkani literature.

 3. Sahitya Pradnya Puraskar – The Award includes Cash amount of Rs. 25,000/- Certificate, Memento & Shawl. This lifetime achievement award is for those who have crossed age of 50 years and whose valuable contribution in the field of Konkani language research, Grammer, Dictionary Regular Columnist, Tiatr writer.

Five awards are in the scheme of Konkani Bhasha Seva Puraskar.

1. Yuva Chaitanea Puraskar – Two awards are announced for the youths working in the field of Konkani language. Each includes cash of Rs. 15,000/-, Memento & Certificate. The age of the youths must be upto the limit of 40 years and they must have worked either personally or with the help of institution in the field of Konkani language, literature, music, play, education, research, culture and also must have shown their co-operative spirit in Konkani language / literary movement.

2. Shenoi Goenbab Konkani Bhasha Seva Puraskar – The Award includes Cash of Rs. 25,000/- Certificate, Memento & Shawl. Those who have completed 50 years of age and who have worked in the field of Konkani language as an activist, leader and have given their valuable contribution are eligible for this life time achievement award.

The award is limited only for the jurisdiction of Goa State.

3. Madhav Manjunath Shanbhag Konkani Bhasha Seva Puraskar – The Award includes Cash of Rs. 25,000/- Certificate, Memento & Shawl. Those who have completed 50 years of age and who have worked as an Activist, Leader, Organiser either in Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala or in any other state are eligible for this lifetime achievement award.

4. Konkani Seva Sanstha Puraskar – The Award includes Cash of Rs. 25,000/- Certificate & Memento. This award is for the Registered Institution which has contributed service in the field of Konkani language for at least 10 years. The institutions from Goa as well as outside Goa will be considered for this.

 For the outstanding Literature / Granth Awards, The writers have to fill up particular application forms and submit to Akademi alongwith 4 copies of book.

Member of Executive Board of Goa Konkani Akademi cannot participate in the scheme.

Goa Konkani Akademi appeals to the persons and institutions for recommending the names for Sahitya Pratibha Puraskar, Sahitya Pradnya Puraskar, Yuva Chaitanea Puraskar, Shenoi Goenbab Konkani Bhasha Seva Puraskar, Madhav Manjunath Shanbhag Konkani Bhasha Seva Puraskar,

 Konkani Seva Sanstha Puraskar. Those may be sent to the Akademi after fulfilling the particular forms.

 Among the four life long achievement Awards, a writer/activist will get any award only once. Akademi will appoint a panel of juries which will select the names for awards after considering the recommended forms.

The result of the panel of juries will be binding to all.

The Awards will be presented in a special function.
