14th Nov. 2005, Panaji, Goa Konkani Akademi is organising a book releasing function of eminent Konkani poetess Late. Smt. Vijayabai Sarmalkar on 19th Dec. 2005, at 5.00 pm at Konkani Bhavan, Margao. The book entitled 'Gananil' is published by Goa Konkani Akademi. Eminent Konkani Writer, Journalist & President of Asmitai Pratisthan, Adv. Uday Bembrey will be the Chief Guest for this function and the book will be released at his hands. Shri Ramesh Sarmalker, son of Late Vijayabi has been invited by the Akademi to be the Guest of Honour and Sahitya Akademi Award winning short stories writer Smt. Meena Kakodker has been invited as a special Guest for the function. Shri Pundalik Naik, President of Goa Konkani Akademi will preside over the function. Smt. Nayana Adarker, Smt. Maya Kharangate will be reciting selected poems of Smt. Vijayabi Sarmalkar. Smt. Nutan Sakhardande will compare this programe.

Prior to this book release function a panel discussion on the topic 'Portrayal of Women in Doordarshan Serials: How much real How much unreal'? will be held. Prof. Suman Samnat will moderate the programme and Smt. Jyoti Kunkoleikar & Smt. Auda Viegas, Smt. Usha Panandikar, Adv. Subhalaxmi Tambha will be participating.

Both the programmes are open for public and Goa Konakani Akademi has appealed to lever of Konkani Literature to attend this function in huge numbers and make it successful.
