TIATRO FESTIVAL

Panaji, 10 Jan 06 - Goa Konkani Akademi's 14th Annual Konkani Drama / Tiatro Festival is being organised at Mandur, Dongri, in Tiswadi Taluka, under the Joint auspicious of Dongri Kala and Sauskrutik Manch and D.J. Dongri.

Altogether 4 Konkani dramas and one Tiatro are included in the Festival which will take place from 17th January, 2006 to 21st January, 2006, from 7.00 p.m. daily. The festival is open for all.

The opening ceremony of the Festival will take place on 17th January, 2006, at 5.30 p.m. As per Akademi's tradition the opening ceremony of the Festival is done at the hands of eminent dramatist and this year's honour of opening the festival is bestowed on eminent Dramatist, Shri Laxman Mayekar of Dhaklem Bhatt, Dongri. Shri Francis Silveira, M.L.A of St. Andre constituency is being invited as the Chief Guest for the occasion. Shri Francis Po, Sarpanch, Arrosim-Mandur will be present as the Special Guest of honour. Shri Pundalik N. Naik, President of Goa Konkani Akademi will chair the function.

The detailed programme of the function is as follows:-

On 17th January, 2006 Gramin Kala Ani Sauskrutik Saustha, Valpoi, will present the drama 'Partichea Vater' which is written by Prof. Prakash Vazrikar and directed by Shri Promod Mhadeswar.

On 18th January, 2006 Alfi Art Production Diwar, will present the Tiatro 'Pakaa', written and directed by Shri Alfred Fernandes.

On 19th January, 2006, Sankhalp Theatre Cultural Institution, of Curchorem, will stage 'Pappa Sangat Konnachem' written by Shri Subhash Naik and directed by Shri Raju C. Naik.

On 20th January, 2006 Pritam Sangam Bandoda Club, of Badodem will enact the comedy drama 'Amcho Hat Jagannath' written and directed by Prof. Rajay Pawar.

On 21st January, 2006 Prabhakar Sauskrutuk Sausta, Caranzalem, will present the last Drama of the Festival 'Dhav Dhav Dhavlo' written and directed by Shri Saish Deshpandhe.

All four dramas presented in this years Festival are award winning dramas at State level Drama competition of Kala Akademy, and have also received the best presentation Award of Sankhalp Theatre, Curchorem, besides many other prizes.

On 22nd January, 2006 at 9.30 a.m. there will be a workshop on the four dramas and one tiatro presented in Natakmohotsav Festival. The writers, directors of all the four dramas and one tiatro alongwith the artist of the festival will take part in the workshop. Shri Pradip Naik and Shri Raju Naik will be the observers for the workshop. Shri Pundalik Naik eminent dramatist and President of Goa Konkani Akademi will  chair the workshop.

Around 125 artists will take part and display their art in the four dramas and one Tiatro to be staged in the Festival.

The festival is free for the public as such chairs will have to be occupied on first come first serve basis. Shri Pundalik Naik, President of Goa Konkani Akademi and Shri Nadesh Shirodkar, Shri Seby Fernandes, Shri Abhijit Shirodkar members of the local organising committee have appealed to local public of Dongri and surrounding areas to take advantage of the occasion and attend the Festival in large numbers.
