Two day Seminar on 'Children's Literature' on 7th and 8th October 2005

Sahitya Akademi, Delhi in collaboration with Goa Konkani Akademi is organising a two day Seminar on 'Children's Literature' at Art Gallery of Institute Menezes Braganza, on 7th & 8th October, 2005. The Seminar will be inaugurated on 7th October, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the hands of Shri Anant Pai - Eminent writer of Children's Literature & Editor of Amar Chitra Katha Series. Shri Pundalik Naik, President of Goa Konkani Akademi will welcome the guests and Shri Damodar Mauzo, Governor of Konkani Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi will deliver the Introductory Speech.

Shri Prakash Bhatambrekar, Regional Secretary, Sahitya Akademi Regional Office, Mumbai will deliver the Vote of Thanks. Smt. Prashanti Talpankar will compẻre the function.

The First Session of the Seminar will be on 'Children's Literature As It Stands Today' and it will begin at 2.00 p.m. on 7th October, 2005. Smt. Sunitabai, Shri Joaquim Pinto and Smt. Madhavi Sardessai will present their papers on the above topic. Shri Gurunath Kelekar will chair the Session.

The Second Session will start at 4:30 p.m. The topic is 'Fantasy & Scientific Temperament'. Shri Shrikant Nagvekar will be the Chairperson. Smt. Snehalata Bhatikar, Smt. Rajashri Bandodkar Karapurkar and Shri Satish Davli will present their papers.

On 8th October, 2004 Third Session will begin at 10.00 a.m. and the papers will be presented on the topic 'Children's Plays'. Shri Shridhar Kamat Bambolkar will Chair this Session and Shri Umesh Mhambro, Shri Vincy Quadros & Shri Purnanand Chari will present the papers.

Fourth Session will begin at 12.00 noon. Noted Children's Writers will be reading their works. Shri Sandesh Prabhudesai, Editor of Sunaparant will be the Chairperson.

Fifth Session is on 'Folk Literature'. It will start at 2.00 p.m. Shri Ramesh Veluskar will Chair this Session and Smt. Jayanti Naik, Shri Kamalakar Mhalshi & Dr. Jyotsana Kamat will be presenting their papers.

The Valedictory function will be at 4.00 p.m. on the same day and Eminent writer Shri Dilip Borkar will be the Chief Guest for this function.

Sahitya Akademi and Goa Konkani Akademi has appealed the lovers of Children's Literature & interested students to attend the seminar and participate in the discussion.
